The program for the treatment of obesity and other eating disorders, BeneFIT,<\/strong> is a specialized program dedicated to providing comprehensive care to patients who face problems related to eating disorders such as overweight, anorexia, bulimia, and overeating. This program of the Specialty Hospital Medico brings together a multidisciplinary team of top-notch experts and is specially designed to provide patients with an integrated approach to treatment as well as support, taking into account the physical, emotional and mental aspects of the patient’s health, to achieve long-term results in weight control and health preservation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Obesity is one of the biggest public health problems<\/strong> and challenges of today\u2019s society. Although most people are concerned mainly for aesthetic reasons, obesity is primarily a health problem because it is associated with a number of diseases and shorter life expectancy. As many as 65% of adults in Croatia are overweight, which puts us in first place in terms of obesity in the European Union (source: Eurostat https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/eurostat\/web\/products-eurostat-news\/-\/ddn-20210721-2). Obesity is a disease and a risk factor for many other diseases such as cardiovascular and locomotor system diseases, it is a danger for mental health, and it is also associated with certain types of cancer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In order to effectively solve the problem of obesity, we put emphasis on individual and multidisciplinary treatment by understanding and analysing the causes of obesity, which allows us to solve the cause of the problem and not just the symptoms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Our multidisciplinary team of experts includes nutritionists, psychologists, psychiatrists, gastroenterologists, cardiologists, endocrinologists and diabetologists, and taking into account all aspects of individual health, we offer customized and effective treatment plans that include behavioural changes, eating habits, physical activity, psychological support, pharmacotherapy as well as surgical therapy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Our approach allows us to carefully monitor the progress of each patient, adapting the treatment to individual needs.
