Cookies are small text files that may be stored on a user’s device or that the Website may access when the user makes use of online content.
Medico may use the following categories of cookies:
Necessary cookies – Necessary cookies are required for the secure and proper functioning of the Website and for providing the functionalities that the user has explicitly requested. Without these cookies, certain basic functions of the Website would not work properly. Where the conditions prescribed by applicable regulations are met, prior user consent is not required for the use of strictly necessary cookies.
Functional cookies – enable additional Website functions and the remembering of certain user settings and choices. The activation of these cookies depends on their specific purpose and the user’s consent settings.
Analytics cookies – analytics cookies and similar technologies enable Medico to better understand how users use the Website, measuring visits, technical performance, and interactions with content. This information is used to analyse and improve the operation of the Website and the user experience. Analytics technologies that require consent are activated in accordance with the user’s choice via the consent management system.
Marketing cookies – marketing cookies and similar technologies may be used for: measuring the effectiveness of marketing campaigns, determining the source of a user’s arrival, attributing conversions, measuring advertisement effectiveness, and other permitted functions related to digital advertising. Marketing technologies that require consent are activated only in accordance with the user’s choice via the consent management system.
Managing Cookie Consents
On a user’s first visit to the Website, the user is given the option to manage cookie settings via the appropriate consent management system. Depending on the available settings, the user may:
- accept all optional cookies,
- reject optional cookies,
- manage individual categories of cookies separately.
Necessary cookies may remain active where they are required for the Website to function and where their use does not require consent under applicable regulations.
The user may subsequently change or withdraw their choice via the cookie settings available on the Website.
Withdrawal of consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out on the basis of consent prior to its withdrawal.
Purposes such as analytics and marketing must be sufficiently clearly separated so that the user can give a genuine and informed choice; AZOP (the Croatian Personal Data Protection Agency) has, in its proceedings, found irregularities in the manner of obtaining consent precisely because of insufficient separation of these purposes.
Web Analytics
Medico may use web analytics tools, including Google Analytics 4, to understand how the Website is used and to improve digital content. Depending on the user’s consent settings and the technical configuration, data on Website usage, the device, the browser, interactions with content, and other technical data necessary to carry out analytics may be processed for this purpose. Google Analytics and related Google technologies are configured in accordance with the user’s consent settings and applicable data protection rules. Medico uses a consent management system and corresponding technical mechanisms to adapt the behaviour of Google’s technologies to the user’s choice. Google Consent Mode distinguishes, among other things, between analytics_storage, ad_storage, ad_user_data, and ad_personalization, which govern different aspects of analytics and advertising processing.
Digital Advertising and Measurement of Campaign Effectiveness
Medico may use digital advertising platforms, including Google Ads, to promote its services and measure the effectiveness of marketing activities. Depending on the user’s consent settings and the technical configuration, technologies may be used that enable: measurement of users arriving from advertising campaigns, measurement of campaign effectiveness, attribution of certain actions to the relevant marketing channel, and optimisation of marketing activities.
Medico does not intend to provide, via marketing and advertising technologies, medical records, the content of health findings, diagnoses, the content of free-text fields from medical forms, or other special-category data that is not necessary or permitted for the aforementioned purposes to advertising platforms. Where a particular marketing technology requires consent, it is used in accordance with the user’s choice via the consent management system.
Google Consent Mode and Digital Tag Management
In order to technically implement the user’s choices regarding cookies and similar technologies, Medico may use a consent management system connected to Google Consent Mode. Depending on the user’s choice, the corresponding consent signals may govern the behaviour of analytics and advertising technologies. Depending on the configuration, this may include managing: the storage of data for analytics purposes, the storage of data related to advertising, the use of data related to advertising, and the personalisation of advertising. Google’s documentation defines precisely these consent signal categories for Analytics and Ads technologies.
